Homemade spicy baked fries.
These baked fries are super spicy, perfect along side breaded fish, hamburgers, ribs or any other barbecue meal.
I make homemade fries at least once week in the summer. My family loves to have fries with anything barbecued. I also make them with we have breaded fish or salmon cakes. This recipe is super spicy so you may want to adjust to suit your tastes. You can also use this recipe to make sweet potato fries. They taste just as good. But you’ll have to adjust the baking time as sweet potatoes cook faster then potatoes. Check them at 15 minutes when you flip them to see how much longer they will need to cook.
Now I will admit that I am not bothered at all by fries that aren’t crispy. A spicy soft centred fry is perfect for me. I have read other bloggers posts that to achieve a crispy fry you need to soak the cut potatoes in water for 20-30 minutes then pat dry with paper towel before tossing with oil and seasoning and baking. I will say that I never do this soaking step. I chalk it up to not having the time, but really it’s because I don’t mind them not being crispy. I did try the soaking step once and an I say that I really didn’t notice a huge improvement in the crispiness; maybe my expectations were to high. They really do taste amazing without the soaking. Try it both ways and decide for yourself. Let me know which way you prefer!
