Slow Cooker Grape Jelly Meatballs

Fast and easy slow cooker sweet and spicy meatballs. Serve as an appetizer at your holiday party or as a meal along side quinoa and coleslaw.

These slow cooker meatballs are an easy appetizer to serve over the holidays. There are only three ingredients; grape jelly, BBQ sauce or chili sauce, and frozen meatballs. That’s it! Toss it all in your slow cooker give it a stir and leave it for 4 hours. And it’s done. Can’t get much easier.

I did decide that I would make my own meatballs for this recipe. I made a big batch on the weekend and froze them as two portions. The I could use them when I needs them. This is the recipe for classic Italian meatballs that I like to use. (I’ll post the recipe soon…)

I also reduced the amount of sauce that I have seen used in similar recipes. Most call for about 2 1/2 cups each of grape jelly and BBQ sauce. I just find that to be to much sauce and to sweet for my liking. I used about 30 meatballs and 1 cup each for the sauce.

These meatballs are prefect appetizers for any party. Stick a toothpick in them for easy serving and eating. Done! 🙂

If you want to serve the meatballs as a main meal, try them over white or brown rice, or quinoa. I used both but prefer the quinoa. The kids really liked mixing the sauce into the quinoa and I like the additional nutrition. Also, try with my absolute favourite coleslaw recipe to get the veggies too.

Ingredients
  1. about 30 frozen pre-cooked meatballs
  2. 1 cup grape jelly
  3. 1 cup BBQ sauce or Chili sauce
Instructions
  1. Add grape jelly and BBQ sauce to slow cooker and stir well. Add meatballs and stir to coat.
  2. Cook on high for 3 - 4 hours.
  3. Serve as a main meal along side cooked quinoa and coleslaw or as an appetizer.
