Nuts and Bolts

This is the perfect party snack! A crunchy savoury snack the is so easy to make. It is a definite crowd pleaser.

Nuts and Bolts

It really doesn’t feel like Christmas to me until I make these nuts and bolts. The smell of them cooking in the oven is enough to put me in the holiday spirit. Then snacking on them while watching a family Christmas movie, well it doesn’t get much better then that. That’s what the holidays are all about. 🙂

Nuts and Bolts
You can make a big batch of these (I triple the recipe!!) and store them in an air right container in the freezer to pull out whenever you have company or just feel like having a snack. If you want to make them a bit “healthier” you can cut back on the amount of margarine/butter used in the recipe. I have used as little as 1/2 a cup when I’ve tripled the recipe. I keep the spices the same though because I really like the savoury flavour.

Nuts and Bolts

In a large baking pan add the peanuts, pretzels, Cheerios and Shreddies. Mix well.

Nuts and Bolts

Melt butter/margarine in a microwave safe dish. Add Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt and onion salt. Stir to combine.

Nuts and Bolts

Drizzle about 1/3 of the sauce over the dry cereal mixture. Mix well. Pour another 1/3 of the sauce over and mix well. Pour the final 1/3 over and mix well. You really want to make sure that the sauce is spread over all the dry cereal mixture.

Nuts and Bolts

Bake in the oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool completely. Store in an air tight container on the counter for 5 days or in the freezer for up to a month.
